Ren had spent hours wondering aimlessly through the library. She had probably gone through almost every shelf before she finally found a book that interested her. Ren looked around before she found a table in the corner that was empty. Ren looked at the small librarian sitting at her desk near the entrance before sneaking off to the back of the library. It was always quietest the closer to the back of the library you got. It was also darker and Ren had to flip on the small desk lamp so she would have adequate lighting.
Ren's face was lit up by the ghostly white light of the lamp and you could barely make out the light coloring in her cheeks. Ren flipped open the old book and it made an old crinkling noise that books made when they hadn't been opened in a long time. Ren looked down at the fading pages and was worried she would have to go get another book. However, it turned out the words were still completely legible. With a quiet sigh, Ren settled back into her chair and set her messenger back on the floor between her and the small table.
Ren felt like she had been reading a long time but when she looked at the Swedish watch on her wrist she realized she had only been reading for about twenty minutes. It was amazing how time flew when you read and even more amazing how it seemed like you were doing something for a long period of time only for it to have been mere minutes. Ren looked around at the dark corner of the library she sat in. When she figured no one was around and saw the librarian go off into her office and shut the squeaking door she pulled out a small bag of Sour Skittles. She absolutely loved sour candy and she quickly popped a small handful into her mouth.
Ren's lush pink lips pursed from the overwhelming sour taste of the candy before she hid most of the bag underneath her notebook which sat on the table. Ren flipped the page and continued on to the next poem. Many of the poems were very descriptive and challenging, causing Ren to re-read them at least twice in order to pick up on the main idea. It was one of her favorite things to do, picking out every detail of a piece of literature and unraveling the true meaning of the writing. Even as immersed in the book as she was, Ren couldn't help but look around every so often. It was lonely in the library when school was out and she found herself wondering whether the time on her watch was wrong because it was extremely deserted, more than usual.
